Conventional talk therapy sometimes simply doesn’t work for people to resolve their issues, or heal their core wounds. For some personality types, talking too much about their issues only makes them disregulated, and ultimately makes them worse. I’ve known people who went through 5-10 therapists, talked about everything, and never felt they were truly helped, and actually felt more burdened by the added disregulation. I find that all of my clients have some things they can only heal by becoming their own medicine, through their Spirit Warrior training. And not by endless verbal vomiting of their problems.
For me, fitness training has always been my therapy and medicine, even before I knew that that’s what it was. When I was a teenager, it was running and weight lifting, in my 20’s it was that plus Yoga, and currently it's all those things but even more importantly it’s Martial Arts. Punching and kicking the heavy bag is undeniably, one of the most effective medicines I am aware of. I saw a BJJ meme years ago, and it said, ‘The best therapist I know, is trying to choke me unconscious on the floor.’ For people who don’t do martial arts training, this probably sounds terrifying. This is why this path is not for everyone. Recently I did a 4 hour martial arts training in the park. The reason it was 4 hours is because I enjoy it so much, I lost track of time. Thankfully my training partner loves martial arts too, so we both lost track of time. The more challenging the practice, the more medicinal. When I first stated to practice BJJ, I trained with men, because the Dojo I was at had very few women, and some training sessions had no women. Every time I learned a really painful move, my thought was, this hurts like hell, but this is incredible that this is possible! I just got destroyed, and I love this! It may sound masochistic, but it really isn’t. It’s simply training. You have to be able to be humble to be wisened by and to enjoy your training, if you want to master your self. I always feel 10 times better, a lot less stressed, my mind is more focused and more at peace, after very long and challenging martial arts training. There is no equivalent or substitute for this Spirit Medicine. And I do not believe that enlightenment is possible without a healthy dose of your Coach or Sifu, or even a training partner, beating the crap out of you, to show you all of your weaknesses and vulnerabilities. To me this is true love. And it’s not the valentines day hearts with chocolates and teddy bears. Nothing wrong with that, if it is for someone else. It’s just boring as hell for me. Another thing I noticed is that a person has to be at a certain level of maturity to be teachable and coachable to the Spirit Warrior path. Not everyone finds this path, because not everyone sincerely wants to change. They may say they do, and be going through the motions. But I have observed that, only the people who are willing to train very very hard to achieve excellence, let go of their toxic patterns that they have accustomed to, stop making excuses for their shortcomings, and cultivate virtues, are being honest that they want change. In a very real way it is a death of the old self and a birth of the new self. Birth is always a very painful, messy, and bloody process. It’s not sugar and roses as people wish it was. People who sit on the coach, watch TV, eat popcorn, and expect the politicians they vote for to create change for them, are going to be very disappointed. Change requires radical personal responsibility. Starting with the acceptance that everything in your life is of your own creation, consciously or unconsciously, the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly. Then committing to heal the wounds of the past, creating a healthy new whole coherent You, which in turn will manifest a healthy new coherent peaceful reality, for yourself first. Then sharing that peace with the world. Nothing in the world changes until you change. If people are not motivated enough to let go of their negative attachments and vices that block them from cultivating virtues, to become a cleansed vessel for Spirit to work through them, they may never find this path of Spirit Medicine. Or if they find it, they will not stay on it. They’ll find that they are distracted, diverted, thrown off, derailed, tempted, tested, and one day they’ll want to just stop trying to return to the path. They’ll be too worn out by the struggle. But that’s precisely the moment to triple your efforts and re-commit to the sacred path. Because at first you have to put a lot of effort into your training, it’s a massive investment into the sacred path… but one day, that comes back to you. The investment pays off. The Spirit of the Sacred Warrior path comes and aids you, and gives you protection and aid, exactly when you need it most. When you have earned the trust of the beautiful sacred beings who are guardians of this path, after you have shown unconditional faith, they will help you win your battles. It’s just like planting a seed, at first it needs all of your attention, you have to protect it from storms, strong winds, floods. But as it grows, you find it doesn’t need you much anymore. Eventually it grows on its own, and one day, it yields fruits and provides shade. Genuine Spirituality requires a tremendous amount of self discipline. It’s not just about blissing out in a spa, avoiding stressful facts, and avoiding things that scare you. This doesn’t work anyway. Stress is what causes us to grow. And all of us have to face our fears. The greater our fears, the more we will be challenged by Spirit to face them. Spas have their place. But so do Dojos. As the Austrian Psychologist said, ‘One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” If you feel called to be on the path of a Spirit Warrior, then I have the program for you. This is not for everyone. If you want to train hard, be challenged to become the best version of yourself, have the opportunity to slay the biggest demons that are in your way to achieving greatness, face your own fears and win, if you are willing to let go of the obstacles that block you on your path of enlightenment, then this program may be for you.
