how Can Pescatarians, flexitarians, vegetarians and vegans do keto?

In the last year or so, my diet has moved more and more into a (healthy) ketogenic diet. My food window has been narrowing. My carbs reducing. It used to be that I would not eat at least 2 hours before sleep, then I would not eat after 6 pm, then after 5 pm, now I'm working on not eating after 3 pm, on some days. I used to still drink bone broth as a third 'meal', but I'm working on cutting the 3rd meal out altogether, on some days. I cut out most carbs a really long time ago already (12 years ago?), so cutting out the bit of remaining carbs was the easy part. A few months ago, I also cut out all fruit, to reduce sugar. Some people ask me how its possible to live without fruit, but all I can is my body works better without the sugar, even the sugar in fruit.

Also after I found really high quality plant based and whey based protein powders, its doable to get sufficient calories from protein, while not being a meat eater. Every day I tweak something more, to keep cutting away the unessential out of my life. Like Bruce Lee said, it's not the daily increase, it's the daily decrease that matters.

But one thing that is essential is daily Greens. I’ve been drinking Greens for over 15 years, every single day, in the morning. Nutritionally, it’s like consuming several servings of green vegetables in one drink. The amount of natural energy you get from that, is way more than a high carb meal, which is actually negative energy. High carb makes you tired and gives you brain fog. Greens also taste amazing. A healthy Ketogenic diet is not complete without very healthy large doses of leafy green vegetables, and superfood greens. We need that chlorophyl! So it's not just about loading up on massive amounts of animal protein. The Ketogenic diet definitely must include a certain amount of servings of raw leafy greens and other vegetables, that are organic, nongmo and were not sprayed with any chemicals. If you are eating conventional gmo produce that has glyphosate, you will not be getting the same nutritional value, not even close.  I'm sorry to tell you, but you'll be making yourself sick, even if you do other things right.

I used to think I can’t do Keto because all the pictures of food I saw of people who were doing Keto were of massive amounts of meat. And I don’t eat meat, so I mistakenly thought I can’t do Keto. Then I learned about ‘Healthy Keto’. A light bulb went over my head. I learned that there is a way to do keto for pescatarians, flexitarian, vegetarians, and even vegans. That changed everything. And it turned out that 70% of what I was doing was already leaning toward Healthy Keto.

The benefits of doing a Ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting together, increase the more you do them, together. The weight loss is what people see. But what happens internally is even more important - reduced inflammation, mitochondrial and DNA repair, increased mental energy and focus, reduction in food cravings and addictions, detoxification of the many pathogens and toxins, even the stubborn ones.  Things like high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high cholesterol, even some mood disorders, they all may go away, when you fast consistently. And that means no food at all for 14-16 or more hours per day. You also have to make sure you are drinking enough pure water during that time. Some other liquids may be ok.

As a Holistic Health Coach, I work with people with all sorts of conditions and goals, and I work with people who do and don't eat meat. Some people simply can't due to health conditions. And they still get tremendous value out of the Ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting. Whatever is going on with you, you can do Keto and get benefit from it!
